ItemPensando el desarrollo: Una genealogía latinoamericanaCARBALLO, AE ; Beling, AE ; Bonet de Viola, AM ; Luna Bravo, JL (FLACSO/ GRAMA Ediciones, 2016)The chapter, whose title in English is 'Thinking development: a Latin American Genealogy', discusses the emergence of critical development thinking in Latin America. Given the contemporary surge of interest in discussions of development emerging from Latin America, particularly around the use of indigenous notions of development in recent years, the chapter argues that it is necessary to trace back the emergence of critical development in the region, in order to understand the implications of contemporary discussions. As such, it focuses on the schools of thought that dominated development studies at the global level and engage them from the particular perspective of Latin America. In this process it revisits both the theories that participated in global discussions of development and those that remained at the periphery of such discussions.
