Peliculas Escondidas. Un viaje entre el exilio y la memoria
    SANDBERG, C ; Areal Vélez, A (AAV producciones, 2016)
Películas Escondidas Un viaje entre el exilio y la memoria/Hidden Films. A Journey from Exile to Memory is a project that explores film-historical relations between Chile and East Germany. In the 1970s and 1980s, the production company DEFA made a number of shorts, animations, documentaries and feature films, which amount to an audio-visual chronology of social and political circumstances in Chile from the beginnings of the Pinochet dictatorship well into the 1980s. We have interviewed Chilean artists who lived in German exile at the time and were part of DEFA filmmaking projects, such Orlando Luebbert, Teresa Polle, Irina Gallardo and Omar Saavedra Santis. Today, this film material is part of an audio-visual document of the cup d’état that helps to disperse knowledge, to imagine and reconstruct events and experiences of this time. Screenings with audiences in Chile; Argentina, Mexico and Germany reveal that the films evoke different associations and memories in each of these national contexts and histories.
