    The Invention of Melbourne: A Baroque Archbishop and a Gothic Architect

    On 17 April 1852 The Catholic Archbishop of Melbourne, James Goold, was given permission to export from Rome 135 Old Master Paintings. It was the first of three shipments of religious pictures to the colony. This exhibition shows a small selection of the images.
