ItemThunder Point : An Archaeological Investigation of Aboriginal Coastal Use in Southwest VictoriaCornish, L. ( 2000)The site of TP/1, at Thunder Point near Warrnambool in southwest Victoria, was excavated from December 1976 to January 1977. The results of this research were not published. This report describes the re-analysis of the materials from one square of this site, Square 6-2, which shows that Thunder Point specialised in gathering one species of shellfish in particular, Turbo undulatus. Radiocarbon dates received from TP/1 show that the area intensified in use within the last 3000 years. This site will be looked at in association with the larger tribal region (Gunditjmara) to understand "intensification", and will conclude by recommending that more research be conducted in the region before intensification can be discussed further. 1
