Development and change in Sarawak : an analysis of a conflict
    Chala, Teresa ( 1993)
The conflict between the Dayaks and the timber industry in Sarawak is not a conflict over deforestation, but part of a longstanding struggle to maintain control over customary land. Dayak resistance to logging is only one facet of a wider struggle which is a reflection of the dissonance between the perceptions of development of the government and the Dayake. Logging has precipitated the struggle over land control into the international arena and has attached it to global environmental and deforestation agendas.
