An Input-Output Framework for Stability and Performance Analysis of Networked Systems

A framework is developed for analyzing networked feedback interconnections of dynamical systems. The framework accommodates linear time-invariant open-loop dynamics and a range of digital network characteristics, including uncertain time-varying inter-sample intervals, communication delays, and quantization. The main results relate to integral-quadratic-constraint based descriptions of the uncertainty and non-linearities, and corresponding L2-gain performance certificates. These numerically tractable certificates are parametrized to enable exploration of achievable performance for given network characteristics, and of networking requirements for achieving performance specifications.
