The suffix -unz(a) is restricted in distribution and disappearing in Northern Italian dialects, whereas it is thriving in Romantsch spoken in Switzerland. This difference suggests the suffix is increasingly used by Romantsch speakers as emblematic of their distinctive language and culture.en_US
