    Abstract
The theme of this conference is "Getting together: sharing perspectives across region and city." My paper gives an overview of work undertaken at the University of Melbourne over the past few years, in which the managers of a wide variety of cultural collections have been getting together, to share information, expertise and resources, all with the aim of improving the standard of collections management and raise community awareness and use of these collections.
