G.W.L. Marshall-Hall was the first Ormond Professor of Music at the University of Melbourne. In 1892 he founded the Marshall-Hall Orchestra, conducting the majority of its 111 concerts and many others before the orchestra disbanded in 1912. This unique collection of the orchestra’s programmes details the development of its repertoire from the standard classical fare to modern works, including commentary on the works by Marshall-Hall himself.
